Confirmed Dates for trip to Orkney Islands to dive the Wrecks of the Scuttled German Fleet.

SCAPA 100 ; The Centenary Expedition
This trip is extra special : We will be diving Dreadnaught Battleships 100years old…..

Guided by our Tec Instructor Trainer RYBY – this trip is set to be an EPIC in all ways…

Departing Friday 5th July to drive up to Northern Scotland, we plan to go in convoy.
[ though with a bit of planning we could possibly go earlier and get some dives in at The Farne Islands – St.Abbs – Eyemouth – or perhaps Oban & Mull on the west coast ???]
We will be taking a minibus/van to carry dive gear so that car sharing or flying becomes practical.

We can make a detour to visit John-O-Groats on the Saturday morning.
Ferry Crossing from Scrabster to Stromness on Sat 6th at 1pm lunchtime to meet the skipper Emily Turton [ a local LEGEND ], and load all kit on board MV HUSKYAN.
This SIMPLY STUNNING purpose built DIVE BOAT ,launched in May 2015 is fantastic to dive from – very stable, spacious and practical.
Emily’s reputation is second to none in Scapa Flow – with years experience running charters for Wrekkies & Tekkies all over the world – her detailed dive briefings are an education for even the most frequent of Scapa experts.
Overnight in the DIVERS LODGE guest house based in Stromness Harbour, with associated (moderate) shinannigans before departure out onto “The Flow” each day for some serious hard-core Wreck Diving.

Battleships : Konig 26-32m  /  MarkGraf 24-47m  /  Kronprinz Wilhelm 18-38m

Cruisers  :  Karlsruhe 18-26m  /  Brummer 22-36m  /  Coln 20-33m  /  Dresden 22-30m

Alternatives : Blockships / HMS Rodean  /  Butter Island Seals

….AND THE GUNS JUST GET BIGGER AND BIGGER…

–  and of course then there’s Scallops, Langoustines & Lobsters ???

The Diving Package for the week includes 2 dives each day – and believe it that’s enough : they’re BIG dives !.
Transport of Gear up to Scapa is available so we can take twins/sides/CCRs  : by prior arrangement.
Air fills for the week are also in the price : Nitrox / Trimix are available on request (extra cost payable)

Accomodation in the DIVERS LODGE is “Scottish Luxury” – comfortable and functional, self catered chalet.
Lunch on board has a wide reputation as the best in Orkney…
Evening meals are on-shore at the many harbourside pubs & restaurants ( or home cooking in the chalet ! )
Daily dive-catches can be cooked by arrangement.

Return to Stromness on Friday for a last big night out to celebrate a fantastic weeks Wreck Diving.
Ferry back to the mainland is 6am on Sat 13th to head south and home again…
With a scheduled stop at the GLENMORANGIE distillery for a bit of local culture !

Minimum qualification : Master Scuba Diver with Deep/Wreck/Nitrox/Drysuit/Night
All divers must dive with redundant air supply (Pony-Rig or Twinset or SideMount)
Tec 50 training is recommended if you want to get the most out of these dive sites…

KIT RENTAL : Needs to be prebooked (well) in advance
Full Twinset or SideMount rig for the week £300 incl cylinders.
11L Tec Stage Cylinder and Reg set – incl 70% Deco Gas fill : £100each for the week
Hollis Prism2 Tec CCR incl Dil/Oxy 3L cylinders for the week £500

Flights up to Kirkwall can be arranged for those wanting to speed up the journey.
Road trip in the Van will be on a petrol share basis…
