As the UK’s
National Instructor Training Centre
for the Handicapped Scuba
Association
Blue Ocean Diving offers a unique
opportunity to expand your
professional qualifications and
experience, enabling you to bring
scuba training within reach of a
wider population of potential
divers.
As we already know – scuba is a non
competitive sport which is open to a
huge range of people – the H.S.A.
programs widen that range, helping
many people face different
challenges when learning to dive….
And it’s a bit like that when
teaching !
Specifically designed to build on
your existing leadership level scuba
training, the H.S.A. Instructor
Training Course covers training
skills which help you teach disabled
students to overcome and compensate
for their handicap whilst scuba
diving.
The H.S.A. ITC program focuses on
adaptive techniques for both student
and instructor, as well as
supervision and control procedures
to ensure safety and fun for all
involved.
Though the H.S.A. is an
internationally recognised diver
training agency, offering specific
qualifications for divers with
varying levels of ability & dive
skill independence enabling students
to earn a recognised scuba
qualification; Many H.S.A.
Instructors find that the skills
they learn are applicable in many
situations to assist a student
achieve an Open Water or Advanced
qualification form their normal
training agency ( ie PADI / BSAC etc
), through using adaptive techniques
to enable the students to meet
performance requirements without
jeopardising standards.
To attend an H.S.A. ITC you must be
qualified at leadership level from a
recognised training agency, eg PADI
Divemaster or equivalent. It is a
THREE DAY program involving
Classroom, Pool skills development
and Open Water skills application.
For non instructor level leadership
qualified attendants (ie Divemasters),
you graduate as an H.S.A. Divemaster,
but gain automatic upgrade when you
complete the relevant instructor
training through your normal
training agency. |
