If you are looking for a reason to brave the UK waters and take the plunge with your drysuit specialty, the chance to dive with seals in the Farnes is surely it!
Blue Ocean Diving is once again running our ever popular trip to the Farne Islands, where you have the opportunity to dive with the beautiful labradors of the sea, the grey seals.
Playful, gentle and curious, these friendly creatures love to interact with the divers that visit them at their home off the Northumberland coast.

Everyone who has come along to a Blue Ocean Diving trip to dive with the seals at the Farne Islands has claimed it has been one of the best experiences of their lives. For most, it is a trip they return to do time and time again.
The Farnes is made up of 28 islands, their visibility varying depending on the tides. The islands and surrounding seas are an important wildlife habitat, with passengers only permitted to land on three of these islands by licensed boats only.
The Farne Islands are home to more than 8,000 grey seals and over 32,000 pairs of puffins, as well as hundreds of guillemots, razorbills, eider ducks, kittiwakes, fulmars, and common and sandwich terns.
The best time of year to dive with the seals are the months of September and October. Yes, it’s temperate, with water temperature ranging between 12ºC and 15ºC, so wetsuits are possible if you are feeling brave enough!
The number of adolescent seals at this time of year is at its highest, meaning they’ll be getting up close and personal with their inquisitive nature and playfulness, leaving you buzzing with the experience!
As well as the chance to dive with the seals, Blue Ocean Diving has decided to make the most of the trip up North with a two-day stay at the edge of the Lake District, where you will have an additional two days of diving at Capernwray.
Capernwray is a former quarry and inland dive site near Over Kellet village in Lancaster. It has a wide variety of fish including trout, perch and sturgeon measuring approximately two metres long!

There are a range of underwater attractions at Capernwray Diving Centre. These include the minesweeper HMS Podsnap, a Cessna 150 aeroplane, two helicopters and a yellow submarine, among others.
Visibility at Capernwray is always impressive and as it one of our favourite dive sites in the UK we wanted to offer more of our guests the chance to experience it for themselves.
This trip is always popular and places are limited. Book early to guarantee your space!
