The Location:

Puerto Galera is situated on the northern coast of Mindoro island, which is separated from Luzon by the Verde Island Passage. These waters are flushed by the currents of the South China Sea, resulting in strong currents. It contains more varieties of fish that the Red Sea, and more varieties of soft & hard corals that the Great Barrier Reef!

This coastal town is well known among tourists for its numerous pocket beaches and many snorkeling & scuba diving hot-spots.
the are was designated a Man & Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1973. The Puerto Galera bay sometimes known as the Port of Galleons, was indeed a place that Spanish galleons and Chinese traders would shelter form typhoons and use the banks for ship repairs.

Located in the Coral triangle, Puerto Galera has the highest concentration of marine life species on the planet…. double that you’ll find in the Caribbean. Just imagine diving with over 2000 species of tropical fish in 30*C clear waters – whilst everyone else is at home with winter blues! There are amazing Dirft-Dives and a great Wreck – the “Alma Jane” – which is colonised and forms a stunning artificial reef. World famous for “Muck-Diving”, where you’ll explore volcanic sandy sea-beds with incredible macro wildlife, some of which look like space-aliens!

Another area highlight is the day trip to Verde Island. An hour boat ride across the channel presents you with a stunning pinnacle that is home to millions of orange anthias, diverse moray eels, giant frogfish, super-sized nudibranchs and breathtaking soft corals. On the deeper edge you’ll see schools of jacks, tuna and wide-mouth mackerel, orental sweetlips and hawksbill turtles – and occasionally a whaleshark out in the blue!
