Explore further on your dives with the PADI Deep Diver specialty.

The PADI Deep Diver specialty course consists of four deep dives to reach a maximum depth of 40 metres. This course provides you with close, professional supervision to expand your awareness of the techniques and potential hazards of deep recreational diving.

This course will help you to become familiar with special equipment used when deep diving. You will practice the skills required to make emergency decompression stops. You will learn how to incorporate variable ascent rates & deep stops upon ascent to increase safety, and you'll see how use of delayed Surface Marker Buoys (SMBs) aids control. On this course you will plan multi level profiles in order to extend intermediate depth dive times. We will also teach you how to work out your breathing rates to ensure adequate air/nitrox supply.

The emphasis is on planning and conducting safe dives whilst enjoying the adventure of going deeper than most other recreational divers. With many principles being drawn from technical dive training, the PADI Deep Diver Specialty is potentially a step towards  Tec Deep diving.
